    Default RyanJay11's Crappie Jig Thread

I decided to start making my own jigs about a month ago, so I ordered a bunch of stuff and got started on this new hobby.

I currently have the Do-It collarless production molds in 1/8 and 1/16 oz. I'd love to get some Jacobs molds soon, but these will get me started for now.

I had great results following the TJ tackle instructions. A few of the Disco Blue jigs got to hot and they weren't quite as sparkly as the others. Not a big deal.

These are my first 6 jigs. I just chose some random colors to test out the materials I had and won't be heartbroken when these end up in a brush pile.....

It's pretty easy to see how this becomes an addiction. I have a bunch more tying materials and powder paints on the way.

I'll update this thread with more pictures and hopefully increase my skills as I tie more. I've already learned a few things from the first batch that I plan to apply for the next ones.

Very nice and welcome to the addiction. As was mentioned to me you might consider keeping some of those since they were your first to see later just how far you advance. Congrats on some nice equipment as well.

Well when you start something you go in with both feet. Keep up the good work and just wait for that thump on YOUR creation.

You have good equipment and the jigs look good too. It’s fun to sit and let the ideas run, good stuff comes from that.

Those are very good. There are no limitations to what you are going to do now.

The more you tie the better you will get. You have a good start and now enjoy and catch some crappie!

I appreciate the kind words and encouragement.

I coated jigs in different colors last night and had about an hour tonight to tie some more.

It’s supposed to be nearly 50 degrees Friday, so the wife and I are going to take the boat and find out which ones work the best.

I have a bunch of supplies coming from Crazy Angler that should given me about a zillion possible combinations.

My Crazy Angler order showed up today, so I decided to powder coat some more jigs this afternoon, then I sat down this evening and tied several more with the new supplies.
