Default Securing rattles to hand made crappie jigs

Does anyone have a trick to securing the rattles to the shank of the hook below the head?

Just wanting to make my own rattling jigs because 3 jigs for 5 bucks is a ripoff.

Also, does anybody know where I can buy rattling eyes? I may do that if securing a rattle on the hook shank is too difficult.

Ditto Capt Cororant. UV Resin is indeed the way to go. I like Solarez Blue -Thin- but any of them will work.

Thank you guys! I read through some threads but didn't see anything I would find useful.

That is a great looking eye and functions as a rattle.

I tie plastic rattles in at the bend of the hook on my bass jigs and it should work on bigger crappie jigs with hooks sized 2 or bigger. I will get pics on how I do it later after I take my morning walk. I don't use glass rattles because they break if you hit a bridge or rock.

    Default rattling jigs

This is where I tie in the rattles as well as a couple of finished jigs. I could have tied the rattles in a little further up the shank to hide them better but this is my first ties using crappie jigs with a #2 hook, usually use rattles on my bass jigs and chatterbaits. Tying in this way keeps the rattle away from hook point for a higher hooking percentage.Name: IMG_1581.JPG
