I am using some bargain jigs to practice with, those are the ones with the eyes and are 1/16 (collar cut off) with a #6 j-hook. Ebay cheapos. The ones without eyes are 1/32 #6 sickle hook ball jigs from CDC member Curtis aka Litewirehooker, and I powder paint them. When I get a little better at it, and find what style works best, I will tie some on my good Daiwa Gekkabijin JDM jigs. These are getting hard to find and run about a buck apiece, but are super-sharp, and hook fish better than anything I've ever used. You don't have to set the hook - just reel.
The 1/32 #6 sickle hook is becoming my favorite for those big shellcrackers, I use them a lot plain, tipped with a live wiggler. The slow fall presentation of a light jig is something I discovered is critical for fooling big bedding bream. IMO, of course.
