I have one suggestion for tail ties. After you do the whip finish use a very hard head cement. I use UV cement.
I tried my Hard as Nails head cement and the fish destroyed the thread in short order. The thread takes way more pounding than a collar tie. After switching to the UV cement no more thread problems.

I took care of that lack of blue/white thing. Also got a load of dark clothes thru the wash.

Thanks for the advice. Any suggestion on tooling up for the UV cement?

Hey I have a recommendation unless you want the UV part of that. I use Softex on all my thread neck ties and I know it cost more, but you get a lot more and it's super tuff stuff! I spoke to the CEO years ago when I was developing my glow jigs and I was sold. Now that I have been using it for over 12 years, love the stuff and I use a wood skewer to apply it. You get a really nice size jar that will last you a long time! It's been tested on toothy fish too and hold up well!

The UV cement usually comes with a LED light to activate the cement. I got a 12 volt UV LED online and use a plug in charger to power the LED. This eliminates having to mess with batteries.
I would think any type of cement that makes a hard surface would work.
