Mono for weed guard

Has anyone used a single strand of heavy mono poured into a jig head to make it weedless?

It’s standard in fly tying, particularly for big flies like bass bugs and saltwater flies.

Double mono weedguard works very well. Got to tie the jig to put it on.

Richard Gene has a you tube video on a simple effective 30 lb mono guard.
Like most things he does it is simple and works without costing much.

Man that's a lot of work for a soft plastic jig, not sure I wouldn't just prefer to loose a few if I jump on some soft plastic jigs to fish. I have a lot of soft plastic, just don't use it or have not in a long time. However I am planning on using more as time moves on using both them and my hand ties.

I do that for my hand tie jigs now. Has saved many of them when casting and dragging through structure. I can tell a difference and it does work.

Thank you dave for the post that's a cool ideal we do use super glue on our plastics from keep them sliding back on a regular barbed jighead.

Richard Genes methods works very well and doesn't take long to make them up once you get going.

Probably can crank them out pretty quick in a vise I would think
