They are about 10" each. 12 strips...so about 10 feet I would say. If they are much less than 10 inches I am adding extra ones. Just filling an order now and the white was a bit imperfect and I think I put 15 in it. Want everyone to be happy so they will buy more.

For jig collars and body one can also snip the fur off the leather and place it in a dubbing loop, then palmer it.

This is a method that is becoming popular with the fly tying crowd, it works very well. You can buy a few tools to help with the dubbing loop too. I use a dubbing clamp and/or tweezers, and a dubbing spinner. Even a cheap plastic chip bag clip works well. Beeswax or dubbing wax helps.

A jig streamer I tied using both rabbit zonker strip and a collar using both marabou and rabbit fur.Name: 20200710_202729.jpg

Okay thanks, sounds good. I wanted to compare what I have to that mostly for info. I have the Hareline packs that have 4 strips per pack and close to 4 feet in each. Maybe I will throw up and add on here too. Actually I like the two tone and barred ones best.

Here is an example of the two tone ones, maybe you can find out how to do that too?

Top one is Barred and other two are just two toned.

Am working on dying more colors. And will try two-toning soon.
I don't have a lab or employees...just a garage and my wife helps me some.
It is trial and error....mostly error to figure this out.
Hope to widen out as we go.

I'm just a little guy trying to sell to pay for my habit.
Hard to compete with the big company.
Hareline has the market for sure.

I'm trying to give a better deal to make it worth buying from me. Really interested in know how I can improve my service.
Not trying to take away anything from you dealers as you can offer so much more than me. Hope there is enough market for all of us.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I am small time as well, mostly Hackle and Chenille with a little hair thrown in. Buying from Hareline also means I have to compete with all the shops, most all just me, my wife does help me measure out the 5 yard packs of chenille. I am too old to work too hard, lol! I have just been at it a lot longer and don’t dye anything and don’t cut strips! Mostly try to help new guys with a few tips when we talk and help them pick what they need to get started

Just remember if you dye the hides they will harden up as they dry. As I guy WAY smarter than me told me when I started learning the dye game - If you die a hide you have to re-tan it. And that is another whole game!!!

Yeh I dyed some chartreuse and the color came out better than great but it shrunk the hides and I had to break them down again. Hard to make enough to be profitable. Found another source and now have peach, yellow and red. Olive Green coming.

Yeh mine too. Thanks to all you guys for your supporting me. I have added a lot of colors to my supplies. Also now cutting some squirrel and possum or for you older guys. "Polecat". Cut up a skunk too. That is making some real nice jigs as they change from black to white as you get towards the head.
