Default Wire Formers- Comparative Eye Sizing

Comparative eye sizes between popular wire formers. Sorry I didn’t actually measure the diameters. Note that on the Hagen’s and the Boggs, there are different size pins available for different size wire and those will change the size of the eyes (loops). I use the the smallest available.

I have had the Hagen's since the 90's. When I bought mine I think I paid less than half of what they sell for today. I did pick up all the different eye sizes but I've got no idea what is installed in my bender. Only time I changer is when I get inspired to make muskie spinners with the heavy wire. Mostly use 0.024, 0.029 & 0.051 wire. Making spinners for everything from panfish to muskie. I've also gone to single hooks for CPR on the small stuff. Siwash hooks is what I've gone to. Muskie is still trebles but I haven't made any for several years. Great hobby combined with jig and fly tying.

Love seeing the different one made by different pieces of equipment. All I know is even though I have a Hagens, I have hardly used it even though I have had it for years and just need to work with it to learn better, lol! I am a beginner for a long time now, lol!

Well, I'm in the Hagens house and also have been since the 90's. I use the 1/8 pin and .035 wire most of the time. After 20 some years I'm still not very good at it but they catch fish and does not hurt as much when I lose one.

I'm still using my OLD Netcraft wire forming tool!! Bought in Junior HS for $8 and still using it!! I've got one of the Worth Hand former's too!! I've thought about the boggs and Hagens but I'm making just as good a spinner as the professional formers. Yeah at times I'd like smaller eyes but that's ok!! As Grumpy says It don't hurt too much if you lose one!! MC nice spinners!!
