Think too many wraps on the collar!

Looks pretty good since you just started. Should be able to make some pretty jigs with all your materials. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

I would do less turns on the collar. Bet the fish will munch on either type though!!

Thanks for the feedback. Why do you want less on the collar? I fished with these yesterday and did real good. I like the action of the collar. Just wondering. Also I have difficulty tying the collar when finished...any suggestions.

I first thought to many turns on the collars but once you get them wet that issue will go away quick. Nice ties.

I think it is a lot of personal preference. Sometimes you want some bulk and other times I'm trying to keep my bait small. The fish will let you when to change. Tie on.

The more you use the less action you will have! That goes with almost every material you can find, like Bucktail, Marabou and others. Once you get too much less action will follow and for my personal use, I want as much action as I can get when warm for sure and if colder I would just use Kiptail or something with less action to reduce movement. Natural movement is what you want, like if you take a marabou jig and just hold it in the water while you troll motor slow you will see it look a lot like a small fish swimming.

However this is tying and really one can and should do what they want!

Oh ok. I see. I have been working with them in the swimming pool to see the action. This hackle feathers are so thin they still have lots of action. But I understand your reasoning. Went fishing on Friday and one with a collar out caught 3 to 1 over the ones without.
