I want to make some for gills. Something 1 1/2" or less. Black or gray fly on a #10 siwash hook #1 Indiana or inline blade. Trouble is I'm not sure if I want the bend (to avoid line twist) hickey in them or not. I'd use them mostly on 2# test. Just a bit of spinner action to call them in saying "hey fellas look at that bug!"....Heck it's snowing up here may as well play in the basement.

Wow, we got a nice day, rain and 45. I am going to have to go smaller wire like .030 and I really am having a tough time incorporating the bend. Just sitting here pondering.

with .035 wire I don't think you'll have to much of a problem.

Kind of like a Tomahawk blade - I've got some old Roto Blades that really thump in the water. If you make them up use a little heavier wire!!

Fatman you are so right for crappie size baits. I could not get that to fit in a bluegill size with my equipment. Plus I would need to go buy more stuff and I am just playing with something I won't use. I only have .030 and .045 wire and am not purchasing more stuff. These guys will come up with a super combo any day now. Wire bending with a pair of pliers is not a fun hobby and my wire bender is big and designed for .050 wire. Hope you folks do well with this and I will be watching.

Nice job on those. Really like it. I have been wanting to use single hooks on my spinners and spoons as well.
Few weeks back watched a video of a guy using singles. The problem for me is ordering them. I can find them but properly sizing them is another story. Not having them in hand. It’s hard to know maker to maker the sizes. I want to try them on spinners for my boy. He can use them and they catch stuff and it’s an active way of fishing to keep him moving. The single hooks really reduce the snags from what I seen.

I really like the single hook idea but stuck with the treble because my singles go from #1 to 3/0. That would take one heck of gill to eat that. LOL

As I stated earlier, my biggest problem was finding straight eye single hooks with a large enough eye. The crankbait treble replacement singles have a large eye but most are too short shanked to tie on. I found some Matzuo siwash hooks but not enough small sizes. Gamakatsu goes down to #10 which in my opinion is fine for gills.

I run into the same problem when making beetle spin frames!! The wire has to go through small eyelets!!
