Default Hook size comparison to matzuo sickle.

I’m goi g to be ordering some jig heads. I know a while back matzuo went out of Buisness. I still have a few left.
But I need to know what you guys are using to replace these hook?
My main size for crappie is a #4. But I use #8-#4. I liked that size of hook. But are the new hooks used sized the same as the matzuo sickles?
A #4 in one model don’t size up the same as another. Or if there any pics on sizing. Thanks.

    Hey ,
The Do-it catalogs have had,do have sizing charts.Try a Google search of XXXXX Hook Sizing Chart. In addition there are Eagle Claw Lil Nasty Sickles along with the 32500 Mustads.Hope this helps. If you cannot find sizing charts PM me and I will cut what I have out of some old Do-it catalogs and send them to you. They should be findable with Google.(everything else in the world is)Name: 20200430_173407.jpg

I've only used #4 and #2 but the Eagle Claws look about the same. I've read the Mustads run big for their size but never tried one.

they're all a little different. the mustads are quite a bit bigger and I think have a longer shank to gap ratio but are the heaviest and toughest of them all. the EC's have a narrower gap than the matzuos but I think pretty much the same otherwise.

also matzuos also have a much smaller barb than EC or mustad

if I run out of matzuos I'd be using EC for their #4's and maybe #8s (I haven't actually tried EC in that size) I do like the mustad #8's but only because they're pretty much the size of a matzuo #6.

I like matzuo much more than anything that I've tried/found - really hope EC or mustad change or some other company steps up

    Thank you guys!
Is there one that seems to be sharper between the eagle claw and mustad?

The big difference is the length of the straight shank and the size between the hook point and the shank (the gap). Matuzo Sickles have the shorter distance between the head and the first bend and also the distance between the shank and the hook point (the gap) on the Sickle is one size larger. SO a $4 Sickle has the same size gap as the #2 Regular bend hooks. It's the same on all the sizes I have tried, like a #8 has the gap of a #6 Regular bend hook.

    Cody,
Do you think the #2 eagle lil nasty would be the same size as the #4 matzuo then?
