Okay thank you! I am not sure what Blakemore swivels size on that are, maybe I knew years ago, but not sure. I do have a lot of Pony heads too and maybe my 1/48 will need smaller, but I can find out that size. All mu pony heads I had them use Roller Swivels on them, but the Roadrunners use Crane. I like the Roller's a lot, have you tried them?

No I am not familiar with rollers.Since my molds call for a #12 crane that is what I have used through the years.Always buy 1,000 packs way ahead of running out.I did try moulding in #10's to see if I could get a crane with a bit higher pound test (#12's are around 15 pounds) .For the guys who cast really hard eventually they will break the crane.Anyway that was a waste of time and I have only used 12's since.I will look up the rollers though. Thanks

If I am not mistaken the Roller Swivels are better than Crane quality wise and why I had my guy use them. Size is same, that should still be a #12 if you ever decide to try them. I don't think he normally uses them, but I don't like the cheaper ones he usually put in the Ponies. We trade a lot, lol!

    Skip,
I have 2 or 3 thousand packs in the shed and just ordered another a few days ago.I believe I did use rollers a while back but they were cost prohibitive.....#12 cranes of the quality I like are $35-36/1,000.The rollers were a lot higher...a good swivel but I like the price of the cranes better. If I was only producing a smaller # then the rollers would be more of a consideration.

    Hey Skip,
I did some searching and did find some size 12 roller swivels at Barlow's for $40/500.So the cost is over double. After looking at them I recognized that I have used the the rollers before. In use could not tell much difference as best I can remember.Think I'll buy 1,000 and evaluate them again though the cranes do pretty well. Occasionally break but not very often.Usually a guy has to abuse them to get them to break.

    Hey ,
I need to explain a bit more ...there are different types of heat shrink AND they come in a variety of colors. To me the clear is preferable as I am able to see if the crane is positioned where I want it before applying the heat. For hook eyelets the black or any other color is fine. The type to get is polyolefin and again I prefer the clear. If you do a ebay search for"heat shrink tubing 3/32" the second or third item is $11.99 for a 100' roll.
Next do the same for 1/16" and 3/64".I know it is an investment but then you are done for years. If you want to spend less look for smaller quantities than 100'.Good luck and enjoy your tackle-crafting.

Agree eBay for the heath shrink and some other things, but how much can someone mess up heat shrink tubing?

I am not real sure what you mean by "mess-up"...if you read the prior comments the issue is some shrink adheres to crane swivels whereas some do not nearly as much.So it is the difference between literaly fighting to remove or easy removal. About any shrink on a hook eyelet is easy to remove. On a crane or roller swivel is where it can be a big issue.
