Old style crappie and panfish jig’s. They will catch fish for sure.
There is a local guide who sometimes posts a kind of update about fishing on our Lake, Lake Hartwell, on the SC/Ga border. He has recommended some jigs for our area and I found them in one of the Lake Hartwell Marinas. They are 1/16 oz and 1/32 feather jigs. They are tied only with V's, no hackle tips and Krystal Flash. And just behind the jig head for about 1/8 inch on the 1/16 oz jigs, there are multiple wraps of tying thread, smooth and slighly built up, but no chenille at all. They are called "Popeye Jigs." Have any of you guys seen these and have you fished with them? What is your opinion of them?

It's just a type of thread neck jigs. I can show you a couple pictures, one was a Popeye style (mine used tips) and the other is a kiptail jig. Lots of hair jigs are tied like this.

Is the second picture a custom head?? Where did you get them???
Thanks
I tie like that some. I just like chenille when I use liquid scent which is most of the time.
Yeah, I've used them before .. Pop-Eyes & Jigs - Cabin Creek Baits ... and caught some good Crappie on them. I may even have some in one of my tackle boxes, buried under who knows what
I just don't use them anymore, since I've gone mostly to plastics.
It is a custom head and what I have is all there is as far as I know. How these came to be, guy from Louisiana ask me if I could make them some jigs that looked much like the ones in the picture. He sent me some of his jigs and I took all the tying off one head and sent that to Robert back when he was making molds. He ask what I wanted the head to be and I said look like that one I sent and make it with as small of a collar as possible and no barb, just make it flair on the end of the collar. Then he made a single shot mold and sent me the two heads in that picture which I used to try them out. I got a bunch of them from him out of that single shot mold, but then he decided to do them in spin casting and I got a bunch of them. I did ask him a couple years ago is he could still make them and he said no. Thankfully I still have a good many, more than I will ever use especially since I don't tie all that much any more.
It's a shame more people didn't order it from him as it would still be available now. It's a killer head for this kind of tie!
