    Default Long shank

Anybody using Eagle Claw 574 jig hooks- these are the long shank hooks-ordered a bunch and have tied several jigs with them but have not fished them as of yet-just added them to the arsenal and to the addiction?!

I don't know anything about that hook, but personally I am not a fan of longer shank hooks. I like the Sickles which give me a shorter shank due to the bends, but even a #2 for me is longer than I like. Not sure what it is about the look to me, but I have some #2 Sickles and just never choose to tie them. Now this is for sure just a me thing as I know lots of guys like a #2 Sickle hook.
Even just the old regular bend hooks for me the shank is longer than I like, again just a personal taste thing.

Up north here I walleye fish alot. The 574 works for me and is my choice. If I'm pitching twister tail searching for crappie I will use a long shank but most of the time I like to keep them a lil shorter.
