    Default Chenille sizes.....

Hey everyone....I'm a bit confused about which chenille to buy. I want to tie just some standard crappie jigs but not sure which chenille I need. I'm talking about the size or diameter . Will be using 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4 oz. jig heads. Any help is appreciated....Thanks

Ok...so I think I got it. Barlows describes it better in detail on their site.

Okay size, first look at the size chart at Danville to just get an idea.

Now size #2 is probably the most sold size and will work on all sizes you mention, but once you get to 1/8 and larger you will need to double wrap it. Personally I have some #2, but prefer #3 once I add Crystal in it, meaning the New Age type as it is less dense once you add Crystal in it.

    Danville Chenille Company Inc.

Other chenilles like Crystal, Cactus, Ice and other Mylar types you should look at different and the larger sizes are really good as they fibers do not keep sticking out and will lay back when wet.

Chenille can vary greatly by size. In general size #2 is the most common size and is what most people use. Like stated you have to double or triple wrap on jig heads 1/8 or larger (depending on hook size). I use mostly new age chenille and I try to buy #4 when I can find it. I mostly tie larger jigs and have a huge supply of size #2 chenille. Size #2 is good for 1/32 thru 1/16 and size #3 are larger is good for 1/8 thru 1/4. The ball game changes when you use ice, cactus and palmer chenille's.

Absolutely all the info provided to you is 100% correct and valid.
In addition if you Google "chenille size chart" you can further your sizing information and collection of charts.
