Default Honest opinion on 1/16 oz jigs

These are some 1/16th oz I've been tying.
The feathers are "marabou" type feathers. These are actually from cheap feathers with this downy "marabou" at the base of the vein that I cut off. The bad part that's unusable is the cut off tip and the tight web of the barbules.
For the size of these jigs, this seems to be a good use of cheap feathers....or at least in my inexperienced way of looking at it. If I was selling these, probably not a good choice...but when I get a chance to dangle these in front of some fish, I'll find out how they will work.Name: PhotoPictureResizer_200226_110225227_crop_600x607.jpeg

Look really good. I think the thread might be a bit too much thread around the chenille unless you where going for that look. A little glue after whip finish and you can get by with less thread! Great use of low grade feathers. A for effort. You are hooked now. I have been tying for 30 years and still love it. I went to plastic making my own and that is fun too!

Are you referring to the thread collar just behind the head?

I was doing double whip with 5-6 wraps... I have plans to get the clear lacquer and thinner 50/50 mix.
I don't like the super glue, it becomes cloudy looking when dried.

The way I do chenille is to wrap up to the head and when you think that's enough, do one more wrap, and the tie off. Whip finish and pull tight and you should see the chenille draw up towards the head.

Remember when you wrap your chenille, wrap it tight.

Those will catch fish no doubt.

You put those in the water and I bet fish won’t care. Those will catch for sure.

I agree wholeheartedly with ifish. But there is no wrong way of doing this hobby. May not sell many but they will catch fish. I think that is the end goal.

Ok, I'll try that out.... And I tend to be too heavy handed when wrapping chenille. I've already broken off some and had to unwrap and started again. But maybe I'm being too slack on filling up to the head. So I'll work on that. The long size 12 chenille I'm using is trapping some of the parts under my thread. (Note - top right in my photo) Maybe I can make a sheet of plastic with a slot in it to use to hold the chenille material back while I whip finish it.

Very nice work. Asking for constructive criticism is the honest mans most humble path to mastering his craft.
Keep up the good work. I know we will be seeing some awesome ties coming from you for a good long time.
