    Default Feathered cut and not

So while I've been piddling, waiting on my order for some hair and marabou.. I decided to take the advice of several about natural shorter look, and I went a step towards the shorter feather tails al-natural.
The pink/purple is the haircut. Another I did shorter by half the measurement of the other one before the haircut.

I know I've been playing with the feathers, but I'm beginning to like the way they look. I'm learning how to prepare the V and it's easier to get them lined up and equally spaced around the hook. But real technique with bucktail or craft fur, even, would make a better looking jig.

I don't think they're too awful bad....but I still have to get my other tail materials. These are just the cheap feathers I bought at the dollar store .... For these tiny 80th oz, they work.
And they are a step up from that original 1st one, where I showed it here, titled, "Don't laugh", lol..I'm still laughing at it.

The red one looks good, but they’re both gonna get bit. I sure you can see the difference.

Yep, and it was good advice...

What's more, I've discovered a way to handle the cheap dollar store feather V's to make them fan that way. These 1/80oz jigs are forcing me to use good tying technique. What I'm finding with using my vise, is the nose of the jaws are just a little too blunt. I may change them eventually, but everything else about the vice holding the tiny #10 hooks of these jigs has been perfect.
