    Default Are you chicken ?

    Hey y'all !

Anybody use chicken feathers for tying jigs ? Are there any problems with these I should know about before wasting my time ?

I acquired a mess of chickens a couple of months ago, and there are feathers everywhere !

I plan to bust out the vice today, and see what I can come up with.

    Thanks

I've never seen a chicken grow a squirrel tail before! LOL Those feathers look like they'll make some nice minner tails to me.

Haha ! They didn't grow them, but were a direct result of the chickens ….. The tree rats were raiding the chooks feed, but properly ventilated with the 410, they gave em up pretty easily !

Maybe Fatman, will speak up. You need to wash them, don't want any lice, or what not in your house.

I have used a few of the dropped feather off of the chickens I have. I see some Barred Rock feathers in the bunch

I have also used coon tails and coyote tails. They resemble a crawfish or a minnow if other materials are added. Either way the two critters had a bad day but will be reborn to catch fish. Nuttin wrong with that.

Like others have said, I think you’ll find the good ones pretty quick. Show em off when you’re done.
