Danville flat waxed 210 denier
What thread size and brand you using. My Fly thread seems to fragile.
I use kevlar for mine. Most of mine are bucktail and walleye sized though.
I use 210 flat wax 90% of the time and 140 flat wax the rest of the time. I have some 70 denier but it breaks with very little pressure.

Same here except for Purple and they don't make the flat waxed in it, but they do have 210 denier in Fly Master Plus that I use if I need Purple.
I guess it will depend on what you want to tie also as some may prefer the FlyMaster.
Oh and I didn't say the MFG....Danville!

I see all use the waxed. Why do you use that instead of the regular non-waxed?

For me it will cinch up better and not break as easy. The flat part because I like how it lays on the hook shank. There are reason to use the Fly Master though as it's made different and is not Flat. So it comes down to what you like, not me! I do think a lot of guys use the 210 Flat Waxed in the beginning because I do and I also recommend it. Anything less in Denier breaks too easy for me, but I do use a decent amount of 140 Denier too and even one or two 6/0 from a different brand due to color and the 6/0 is not flat!

Depends on what you're doing. For crappie jigs I usually use 210 denier flat waxed nylon. You can break it but you'll get the hang of it. Wrap tightly, especially your first 3 wraps. They are what really holds your material, not the number of wraps.
For bucktails 1/8th oz - 4 oz I use size D rod tying thread. Very strong which means I don't break it, thick so I don't use as much, and round which helps in nice clean looking wraps.
Honestly you can just buy white and black unless you're into having the thread showing. I tie mine hidden unless someone specifically asks for it. Red is nice for kiptail jigs but you can use whatever color you want on them.
Maybe get a few spools of 6/0 thread if you tie tiny jigs, 210 denier builds up really fast on a #8 or 10 hook.
