I believe that my 2lb test Stren crappie mono is .004 . My 2.5 lb Japanese nylon line is like .0025 and another listed at 2.5 lb test is like .00178. . Just for reference, I’ve never used any mono for anything but antennas and it was way heavy.

From what I see, .004 is about 2lb test and different line composition makes them different size. Nylon 2.5lb test I have is .005 . Some 4 lb mono is .007. Just for reference.

Don't you find the GSP a little costly? I see it around other sites for like $4 a spool and are not even 100 yards. Veevus thread is also great stuff, but cost is high for it too. I use some of their 140 Denier Power Thread and it's stronger than most threads other 140's, but we are talking just regular thread and not the GSP.
I guess since I don't tie a lot of hair any more that may be something I should look into? I notice all the Veevus is just 75 meters, but saw some other that didn't give it's length.

Well I don't tie 100 jigs or flies at one time so to me it makes it okay for me Plus I bought mine on sale .. My favorite all around Thread is 12/0 Veevus (you could easily tie a jig with it) or 8/0 MFC but the Nano silk for small stuff is also good ..

I have been using some 140 for a few years now mostly because I like it strength at the 140 denier size. It's very good thread though! Now on the 12/0 I feel sure I would break it too much.
If you ever need any Gordon Griffith's 14/0 Sheer Ultrafine Thread, let me know as I have some. They are 100 meters.

I use clear monofilament thread unless the chenille I'm using is very dense or has long fibers like estaz. Then I use 210 flat waxed. The reason is monofilament is very slick and the whip finish knots will sometimes pull out. I like it because it matches everything and you can buy a massive spool at most craft stores. I'm working on one that is 2,200 yards. Haven't run out yet and it's been a year or two.
    Don't worry, catch crappie.

Will it pull out even if you used some glue on that finish spot?

It might work better if you are using other glue. The glue I use is alcohol based. A solvent based adhesive or superglue might work better.

Works fine on new age chenille where you want to hide the thread. It's only chenille that "bounces back" like estaz, Wapsi wooly bugger and Cascade Crest crystal antron that gives me trouble.

Upsides are that you don't have to change colors so it's faster to tie with and it hides well, especially on jigs that have more than one color in the body like weaves and skunks. It's also super cheap. I paid about $9 for my 2200 yard spool. You can get it even cheaper if you buy cones.

I make all my own glue that I use on chenille. About 14 years ago I bought a qt of Clear High Gloss Lacquer and a qt of MEK, I will have over half of each, lol! I mix these about 50/50 and is fantastic on chenille jigs! I can also make great flexible glue, but choose to use Softex for my thread neck jigs.
