    Default New to tying

I was in my local cabelas Sunday with a gift card from Christmas burning a hole in my wallet. I Was in the fly area shopping for my father as he fly fish’s and came upon a vise and all the things that go with tying. So I burned some money on the gift card. These are my very first ever so don’t knock me down too hard. However constructive criticism is accepted.
The 3 on the top left are made with real peacock feathers I got from my neighbors peacock pin.

Nice looking ties. I especially like the ones made with Peacock feathers.

My only suggestion would be is to shorten up your tails a little closer to bend of hook.. think short bites would miss hook.

Thanks for the advice. I will keep that in mind. Some of them are rather large. I guess bigger bait, bigger fish......sometimes

Hey I like them just like they are, some guys like shorter tails and when if I was tying for them I would use a short tail, but on my personal jigs I don't use short tails and I will add a picture of some of my 1/32 Oz Road Runners to show that. Also I do pretty well on these.

Trim the ends you are tying in better and when you put it down to tie in don't let the ends stick out more than your thread will be wrapped when finished. If you still have some materials you want to trim, like when tying Kip tail or Buck tail I always keep a double edge razor blade handy to cut it neat after it's tied. Practice will help most of all and the more you tie the better you will get.

    Good job!

Dang skip. Them tails look longer than mine. I’m using a long shank hook so maybe that’s why.

Some stripers and white bass would like em just like they are. Good work all the same.

I haven't tie any lately. Age caught up with me and passed me somewhat. IMA healing slowly.

When I tie em. I never know how long the jig will turn out till I finish. Kinda like Christmas every tie.
