Default A hand tie limit and then some!

Me and buddy filled the cooler and then started playing catch and release this morning using jigs I tied.

We kept 30 crappie plus 4 big gills, and released that many more.

Big fish was 2.22, with 5 more over 2. Great day!

They were hitting anything dark+chartreuse, and my version of shad, shrimp, and Cajun cricket.

They seemed to prefer the buck tails (pictured) over feathers in the same color. I think the deer hair fell slower.

Good feeling with using your own crafted jigs and catching fish. Nice job, very nice.

Nice job on both, the jigs and the fish.

Thank you, it's s favorite of mine too. That's what the gills were eating the best. Although crappie like it too.

    There's really nothing like it.

Thanks! My buddy and I call them "ugly jigs" but they work!

I really like the ability to manipulate the fall speed, and action of the jig based on material. You can't do that with store bought plastics. Well at least I can't.

Very nice, I would think the buck tails being hollow would fall slower.

Good fish for sure, but better is that you’re figuring out how to make the desired presentation by using different materials. Anyone can change weight but use the same weight and change the fall, smart thinkin. I also take hair and put some of the fuzzy, maribou looking base of a feather on the base of a hair jig that I’m using almost dead stick and it gives a bit more action without changing the overall look. Good Job Mister.
