    Those look good Skip.

At one time I heard a V’s only jig called a stinger, and I have tied a lot of them. I use 1/4” pieces and never thought of using them any bigger. I have used bigger pieces once on a 1/4oz minnow head jig I tied. The smaller more compact profile has put a lot of fish in the live well for me.

I'm glad this was brought up. I'm still having a little trouble with hackle.

Couple good videos on this subject. One from SK and another from Skip.

Cutting it is not a problem. Tying it in and keep it from rolling is.

I have that same problem. I’ve seen and found that if you start tying it in a little bit closer towards you as you wrap the tread around it will rotate hopefully into position. Don’t be afraid to unwrap and try again. I have to all the time. Skip has a good explanation somewhere on CDC. I will see if I can find it.

This video from Skip shows him tying the tail and then releasing material and it rotate into position before tightening securely.

A few loose wraps and then pulling them tight helps to stop a lot of the roll

I’m the opposite Jack, if I’m tying, it’s tight. I also lay them on one by one a lot. One at twelve o’clock, one at one, one at eleven, another at twelve, and so on. Flash location also gets changed, some tied in first, sometimes added as I add V’s.
