Everyone ties a little different but the end result is very close to the same. Positioning the feather is something that is only perfected with time on the vise. Skip puts his feather and v’s together and applies them all at the same time. Try as I might I just can’t get that done. I apply the hackle, futz with it til I like it, then apply the v’s one or two at a time. I sometimes add a second hackle feather for bulk further out from the body and then add big v’s. Does well on 1/8 #2 heads. Keep after it and don’t get discouraged.

I just add “v’s” for color variation if at all. Makes more use of area. Most of my jigs are larger profile and usually bigger hooks. If I’m pitching or dropping into a top or cover, I don’t believe fish are studying my jig. Especially if I’m hitting them in the head with it.
