Default I make my own baits for all fish. If I can't catch crappie on them, that's OK.

This is not a show and tell, I just wanted to know how many folks make and use only their hand ties? I mean all ties without plastics, just hair and feathers. I started doing this years ago and have always caught fish. I also buy and paint my diving baits, Bandit, lipless - ETC. I make my small spinnerbaits for Crappie and Gills.
    Fun, fun.

I would love to have the time. I shoot docks mostly. Grab plastic and go. I realize you said this is not a show and tell. Maybe in a future thread you will show some of your work

I have made many of my baits for different reasons. Tie jigs, paint cranks, pour lead and powder paint, and probably forgetting some. Some triggers I just won’t pull, like plastics and bending wire for spinners and spinnerbaits. I only have so much space and some things I just don’t use enough of to warrant the expense of start up and storing materials. My cranks outfished many store bought offerings and had a tougher finish, and my jigs work as well as a lot of my plastics and much more durable.

Since I started tying my own around a year ago, I've only used plastics one time. I don't have a hard and fast rule against other stuff, just haven't really had much reason that I can see.

Mostly use my jigs. I will use Bobby Garlands some and a few other things but 90% my hand ties. I to paint cranks and even make plastics. I have small kids so have to use store brands some because of time.

I have always been fascinated with catching fish on my own creations. I make most everything except painting cranks and pouring plastic. Inline spinners are my latest perversion. Make some, fish them, lose sleep analyzing, cut them up to salvage parts and then lose more sleep re-engineering and then modify. Wire is cheap. Might never get them perfect but lots of fun trying.
