Pouring more jigs, still raining

I emptied my lead pot, cleaned it, then refilled. It worked OK before but it works like a new one now. Might need to do that more often.

I hear ya. I had a clog, emptied & cleaned, cleared the spot. Put lead back in, melted & clogged again. Lead is pure so not sure what’s goin on.

Keeping it full helps keep the crud on the top, do you let it get low? I don't let mine get below an inch from the top. Also seems to help prevent drips due to the extra weight on the plunger.

I use a piece of heavy fishing wire held with pliers to open out the spout any time it has an angle to the stream instead of straight down, or if it's very thin. If you're safe about it (gloves, catch pan, splatter apron) you can lift the handle a bit and stick it in there, but usually not necessary for me. I'm using pure lead as well.

I have some pure that was dirty when I got it and other that while also pure has some oxidation from Florida’s moisture. One as bad as the other to me. Just cleaned mine a little while back, and cleaned actual dirt from the pot, or so it looked to me. Cleaning is needed but I go long periods between so I’m guessing I don’t clean often enough. Might also need to leave it in the cast iron pot a while longer when reclaiming it to get the sediment out of it, and yes, I do flux.
