A few tying questions

I've been formulating a few questions/observations.
I normally tie 1/32, 1/24, 1/16 and i get these in different hook sizes.
Question: how accurate are these jig weights in reality? I buy them from Ebay and other sources Seems to me that the difference in sink rates between 1/32 and 1/24 is huge.

Another question related to this: Does the adding of hackle and chenille slow down the sink rate more on percentage basis on a smaller jig?
This is all from fishing yesterday when 1/32 was lagging way behind a 1/24,th causing a lot of slack in the 4 lb line,

Anything that adds bulk without much weight to a bare jighead will slow down its fall. The bulkier it is the slower it will fall.

This can be a good thing though. Seems they really like the slow fall rate here. Although not the easiest thing to fish as the heavier jigs.

I prefer slower fall rates in winter and when fish seem hesitant to bite. Slower fall rate puts the jig in the strike zone longer

As far as jig weight difference, It can vary a whole lot even from the exact same supplier. Weight depends a lot an the make-up of the lead/tin ratio of what's being molded. The mold might say the weight, but I'm sure that was for what ever the make up of the lead was at the time the mold was originally made. Best to get a gram scale like a postal scale if the exact weight matters that much. I man even the jigs you get at the store will have major differences in weights...of the same weight sizes....

Lots of post on crappie.com about this issue. Best to get close and just fish them and not worry so much about exact.

That's why I asked if it was so important to be exact...Not very many jigs in the same batch have exact same weights....just my

Also know it makes a huge difference if they have a collar or not since they don't really count the extra weight a collar adds, lol!

That's crazy.
I found a few 1/24 with collar and they were correct.

I have a gram scale and poured 1/32 horsehead underspins. With the hardware and larger hook they weigh close to 1/16 weight.
