Default Is everyone ready to laugh ?

    Hahaha …..

Here's the first 5 jigs I ever made ….. Just made them this morning !

I'm very interested in tryin my hand at jig makin, and have been lookin at all the beautiful jigs you guys make, and watched a ton of videos.

I'm retired, and on a fixed income, soooo, I went to Wally world and got about $10.00 worth of cheap craft supplies to give it a try. Absolutely no tools yet, just my fingers, hemos for a vice, and super glue.

I quickly learned that proper tools are absolutely necessary !!!

I do realize these are absolutely horrendous, but I'm gonna try them anyway …..

The first 3 were made with Guinea feathers from my flock, the last two are supposed to be grasshoppers !

I have very thick skin, so don't hold back !!!

Just wanted to share, thought you might want a good laugh ….. Thanks for lookin.

Hey we all gotta start somewhere! I think you done a heck of a job for your first ones. You can make it as expensive or cheap as you want. I really enjoy tieing, but I am also kinda cheap. I just bought a cheap vise and it does good for me. I will say that a cheap bobbin will drive you bonkers though so dont skimp there. haha but great job! There is tons of information on here and youtube about tieing!

You probably will be surprised at how well they will work. Doesn't have to be expensive. Check clearance section at hobby lobby or another craft store for cheap materials.
Honestly the crappie don't care how pretty or fancy they are.

I bet you catch fish on them! Considering no tools I think you did a darn good job!

Depending on your water conditions, one thing I would offer is maybe use some White legs on the ones that have legs so they are more visible in the water. I know Bluegills love legs!

A thrift store Pflueger fly rod $4 . Leader tied up of some fishing line. A cheap pack of number 8 panfish hooks. Some Christmas Tree icicles and some white sewing thread. ugliest little streamer fly known to man. Lost count of how many first year bass I caught from the bank that fall. Good times and great memories. Didn't have fancy internet photos to tell me it wouldnt work. Read a library book to learn how to cast the fly rod.
