    Default salmon hand ties

Anyone know any good combos for salmon? My dad went to Alaska this yr and really liked doing it so I am thinking about tying him some for when he goes again. I have never fished for them.

    Abbot:

What species of salmon are you asking about? A good start may be googling salmon jigs and you will get numerous places that sell salmon jigs.

Coho salmon can be caught on jigs, sometimes quite readily. You will see a lot of pink, purple and chartreuse colors for coho jigs.

    Steve:

Anyone who has been fortunate to have the opportunity to fish Alaska when the pink salmon are running knows you are not joking. A pink colored spinner, spoon, jig, etc. will catch pink salmon, sometimes until your arms get tired.

He was fishing when they was running. I know he said they was using pink, red, yellow colors i believe.

When tying do you use a heavy style hook or just a regular 570 hook?
