    You could also use some really small poppers with legs. Also they make some really small floats for fly fishing and maybe you could put one a little in front of your fly and retrieve slow or let it fall and the float will limit how far it can fall? I have never tried that, but seems possible and I am sure I have seen these little floats.

    If I see them again I will post it.
