    Default Where to get supplies?

Well, got me a vise (Peak) and a few tools on the way. Need to get some thread, chenille, and hackle. I want to do a basic gray and gold.

What denier thread to buy? Gonna buy a few colors, the flat Danville waxed on ebay, there is 210, 140, others.
For chenille, there's some on ebay as well, what size do I get?
This fall I'll get some squirrel tails and deer tail for sure.

I use 210 denier flat waxed thread and size 2 chenille for majority of my jigs. I think it’s also called medium size chenille sometimes

Welcome to the addiction!!! Your gonna have a blast.

The Fish Hawk in Buckhead has everything you need. Tell them what you plan to tie, and they can fix you up.

Bass Pro in Lawrenceville is also well-stocked, but the Fish Hawk has more tying expertise.

I've had so many ask to buy my jigs it's unreal but at the present time I'm not able to do that....

I agree totally with SuperDave and I know you'll enjoy tying...... Like said it's addicting.....
No problem, I totally get it. If you do want to try the Daiwa jigs, PM your address and I'll put a pack or two in the mail.

Guys: Where do you buy your hackle and supplies? My vise will be here soon, so I need thread, chenille, and hackle. Gonna try tying a basic gray and a basic gold/chart first, I have lots of various jigs to use already. I'll get into pouring and painting later. I'll be in the jig tying forum reading threads...

EDIT: I get to BP sometimes, but I hate Atlanta traffic and never go down to Buckhead. On line is fine.

    Thread Hijack over! Sorry!

I share your dislike of Atlanta traffic and avoid Buckhead like the plague. That said, the Fish Hawk is one of the best fly shops in the country. It's worth a visit.

I went to Fish Hawk website. I’m floored some of the reels are that expensive. I wouldn’t want to fish with anything that cost that much.....lol. Sure are pretty though.

I'd PM Skip and tell him what you want. He'll fix you up.

Putting the word "fly" in front of anything increases the price.

Fly reels are ridiculously over-engineered and over-priced. I'd happily pay several hundred for a nice fly rod, but I'd never pay that for a fly reel.

I buy what I want when I find it, just not in big quantities. Then I look for a good supplier. I also agree that Skip will fix you up on most everything. I buy the hook, pour the head, paint the head, tie the jig, fish the jig, catch the fish, clean the fish, cook the fish, and probably wash the dishes. It’s a good feeling when you’ve hand in the complete process. And it’s not as expensive as you think if you keep your wits about you. Welcome to the madness.
