I use 210 denier flat waxed thread and size 2 chenille for majority of my jigs. I think it’s also called medium size chenille sometimes
Welcome to the addiction!!! Your gonna have a blast.
Well, got me a vise (Peak) and a few tools on the way. Need to get some thread, chenille, and hackle. I want to do a basic gray and gold.
What denier thread to buy? Gonna buy a few colors, the flat Danville waxed on ebay, there is 210, 140, others.
For chenille, there's some on ebay as well, what size do I get?
This fall I'll get some squirrel tails and deer tail for sure.

No problem, I totally get it. If you do want to try the Daiwa jigs, PM your address and I'll put a pack or two in the mail.
Guys: Where do you buy your hackle and supplies? My vise will be here soon, so I need thread, chenille, and hackle. Gonna try tying a basic gray and a basic gold/chart first, I have lots of various jigs to use already. I'll get into pouring and painting later. I'll be in the jig tying forum reading threads...
EDIT: I get to BP sometimes, but I hate Atlanta traffic and never go down to Buckhead. On line is fine.
Thread Hijack over! Sorry!

I went to Fish Hawk website. I’m floored some of the reels are that expensive. I wouldn’t want to fish with anything that cost that much.....lol. Sure are pretty though.
I'd PM Skip and tell him what you want. He'll fix you up.

I buy what I want when I find it, just not in big quantities. Then I look for a good supplier. I also agree that Skip will fix you up on most everything. I buy the hook, pour the head, paint the head, tie the jig, fish the jig, catch the fish, clean the fish, cook the fish, and probably wash the dishes. It’s a good feeling when you’ve hand in the complete process. And it’s not as expensive as you think if you keep your wits about you. Welcome to the madness.
