Default Thread necks and mallard flank

I decided to try something new to me and bought a package of natural mallard flank feathers to try working into marabou.

I’ve been trying various methods (cutting really short V’s, palmering and wrapping feathers, etc.) but haven’t settled on a method I like yet.

I also decided to break down and try some UV resin on the thread necks. I like it so far.

I probably should have added a bit of flash, but mainly focusing on the tail right now.

    Any pointers?

Very nice Jeff. I was wondering what made that look on the threads. I was thinking it was the softex stuff. I like that look myself.

I know less than a thimble full of air about tying jigs. But I know I like those. Very nice. I would like to see some with green head, black thread neck and chartreuse feathers.

Thanks, I will try that. I was doing it the other way around (tying in the base, folding and wrapping.
