I'll go back to the wooly bugger. My guess is that at least 90% of the WB's sold in the US are either solid black or solid olive.

Likewise, if you just go with solid white and solid chartreuse for crappie, you'll be covered in most situations. Throw in a few color variations if you like, but I just don't think you need 47 different colors/styles to catch crappie.

You’ll never catch a sacalait by my house on an all olive jig w/o the perfect conditions.
If ya want to wait in that condition, be prepared to sit.
But not fun to tie solid white or chartreuse all the time. And if you fish a muddy river system in the south that’s also affected by salt water lake tides, orange is a must somewhere. Might as well mix it up if ya got it. If’s not, you can catch more fish on a cotton ball and piece of corn than anything.

But I will say a blue n white pattern will save a day when nothing else is working. At least on my shelf. Pink head with blue body in marabou or rabbit will hit when nothing else will for me. Doesn’t have to be fancy.

Might just be superstition, but I’m good with it.

Agreed. It's a good trout color, but I'd never use it for crappie.

We often used the solid black pattern to catch crappie & BG in the MS delta river lakes many years ago...

I appreciate the replies. My goal is to fish Utah crappie spawn to spawn. Northern Utah fisheries don't focus on panfish as much as their trout and trophy fishes. I'm transplant here myself. ����

One of the patterns that is alway# on my line or in my box is a gray ghost, or a slight variation. Bare leadhead, gray or silver body and a gray maribou or hackle tail with no more than a couple of pieces of flashy stuff of your choice. All the colors already suggested work well also but this is a proven winner for me, from 1/64oz and up.
