Len , I use UV and Glow in my plastic lures and on my lead heads. Seems to help. I am a 2 poler and tried many experiments on stained water and glow really helped more than UV.
Question is... Can Crappie see "UV" colors under water during daytime?
Not sure about Crappie - but the deep water Bluegill, out here seem, to like the UV materials in my jigs.

Yes and make no difference if it's day or night. After all once you get 6 or more feet deep in most lakes it's dark even for glowing stuff! I have used my glow jigs in the day and worked just fine. What UV and Florescent colors do it expand the distance the color can be seen by a huge amount.
If possible I always use FL colors in my tying and most natural White colors are FL naturally!

Jigs look great!
Len way back when I got into glow jigs and UV products, about when Pro-Tec came out with their UV Blast. I read an article that looked at colors and how far they could be seen in crystal clear water and of course the Red and Yellow loose out first and the last colors standing are Blue and Violet at 40 feet. Then if UV is added to the equation it would extend that 40 feet to something like 650 feet as I remember it. If I find that article any place on my computer, then I will post it, but I doubt it since I have not seen it in many years.
Anyway color visibility is greatly enhanced by Florescent and UV colors, but at the same time we probably should keep in mind what the fish are eating?

At what depth do you think it starts to matter?

Well 10 feet in Crystal Clear water (which I have never seen in a lake I fished in) for sure as the Red is gone by then and is a gray. So maybe in your lake or mine if stained pretty good that distance should be much less than 10 feet. Really the way I look at is not how deep, but how far away can the fish see my bait and come get it if they are in a chasing mood. So how far to the side can my bait be seen and how many feet away then in our like of lake water is much less than the Crystal clear water test is done in. Studies like this are just a tool to give use info we can try to use and since all lakes water is their own, just know that some attention should be given to Florescent and UV colors, but I also don't necessarily means the regular colors are not as good, just can't see them as far, but in some cases maybe they would be a lot better. I don't think you can take any thing like this and say this is always going to out do another, it's like never is a very long time so never say never?
FYI I am even starting to think I should also go back a bit and try some jigs without flash for several reasons and I do need to find out a few things more in this direction.

Thanks I was just curious. I wonder if they sense the bait more than they see it. For instance in really muddy water.

Most likely feel the vibrations especially with a little blade bait, but so many things work and each time the fish have to tell use what works and that should be all we worry about really, it's either getting bit or not so mcc and if we change to another colors of the same bait and that one gets bit then we learned a lot right there. At least that is how I fish, start with my go to color and jig and if it gets bit well I may not see another color that day or if it's not killing them maybe I grab another color that I like to see if it's the winner on that day. Really just let the fish guide you.
I just think it doesn't hurt to know as much as we can about them and let all that take you to the right one.
