    Nice work.

Of course you know sometimes Mr. Big comes on a tiny jig right? You could always just use some Big Black Crystal to make a big jig too, I even use some 1/4 Oz heads in the summer here.

    Do like the jigs!

Yes skip,,,, I agree.., but the hooks that come on these Redneck jigs are huge and won't allow those big bites to get loose....I can still use a 1/16- 1/4 jig head , but with a monster hook

Just a question for you to ponder the answer, have you ever seen one of the old original Gray Ghost jigs the old guy on Lake Fork tied? Knowing its one of the more famous jigs that jig had a very small hook and small enough that he didn't even use a Hackle tip in his tails, it was all the little V's I talk about all the time. So a large hook would have reached past the feathers on that jig. I believe it was a maximum size of a #6 regular bend hook, but I am not positive that it was not a #8 regular bend hook. Guys that fish it swear by it.

Now personally I wouldn't go #8 on a 1/16, but I did a lot of #6 Sickle hooks on that jig! For my taste the hooks on the 1/32 Oz Roadrunner should be a sickle hook style and maybe even a #4 Sickle style, but it's just a #6 Regular bend hook. I have some 1/8 and 1/4 heads with #2 Sickles and even some 1/4 with #1 Sickle in them, but I never use them my self. I do know the Mississippi guys love the big hooks and am sure that is how that parts of the country has gone with big hooks. Personally I just don't think it's necessary and I don't like the length of the shank, don't really mind the larger gap. Anyway to each his or her own and that is what makes it all so interesting, everyone has their now favorite colors and styles of baits.

Skip,,,,never saw that jig your speaking of but I understand that small works just from experience on these bigger fish just as well,,,,mseems they tend to tear sometimes their mouths with larger hook sets if pulled too hard where the smaller they eat it and it gets down their throats deeper without fail,,,here's a few pictures of last years catches,,, they all were around 2-3 lb fish.....mind you that I'm 5'9". 300 lbs myself,,,miss almost are as big as me,,,lol

Good looking fish for sure! I love catching them in that range of size and of course get excited every time I get a 17" fish, or a 15", lol!
