Default Modifications to a new mold

I bought a new 1/32oz. Do-it mold and been working on getting my weed guard groove placed right. The new mold calls for #6 hooks but I only had some #2 wire hooks laying around so I used them to do a little test run. (Keep in mind I am not a professional jig maker so they are a little rough)
I use 60# mono for the guard.

Which position do you like your tail on a grub, The curl going with the hook or the opposite direction?

I like the tail going the opposite direction myself but I have seen times the fish would bite no matter what. I am going to try and get on the water this week and try these 1/32oz jigs with 4lb. Line. I have never fished with anything this light before as I always fish tops with a 1/16 oz with either 6-8lb. Line. We’ll see how it goes.

Sorry I don't use soft plastic much for crappie and also don't use weed guards so I am of no help on this one! I have soft plastics that I bought, but they end up sitting here in the house when I go.

They look awesome, good work on the mod!
Throw those #6 hooks away! Modifications to a new mold

About the only plastic I use is a triple tail grub and I rig it like you have it on the top jig in your pictures.

+1 micropterus. Bps triple tail and creams triple tails are awesome. Small stuff I rig with the tail away from the hook I think it looks better and it’s small enough there’s no problem getting their mouth over it. The bigger curl tails I rig with the tail turned the same as the hook so there’s less short stikes and the added resistance from the tail looks better with a heavier head I feel like.

Those #6’s do just fine, just everything in its place. I believe the mod is real nice but the trees will tell if the angle is right. I like the curl on the hook side, but will rig it tail first if that’s what they want.
