Yea...I just tie crappie jigs also...
Does the Danvise feel good?....does it seem like it gets in the way while tying?...too bulky?...sorry...just trying to get ideas...lol

For me the main job for a vise is to hold the hook securely. Both of my vises do this well. I worked on a Peak vise and it also worked well. A pedestal vise was important to me because I construct my jigs while watching TV. Hell I paint and install the eyes while watching TV. I tied on a starter vise for years and I knew having a rotary feature was a must have for me. It simply makes tying jigs easier in my book. The Danvise is a good vise. I have tied alot of jigs on mines and they look no better or worse than the ones I tie on the Renzetti. Both will last me lifetime so it comes down to aesthetics. One is stainless and brass while the other is plastic and metal. They both work great.

I do know the Danvise was updated a good many years back, b ut the original was just too bulky and not enough room around the jaw. I do think many of their issues are a lot better now, but I also know the plastic remains. I used a Danvise for a year, then sold it and got the Renzetti, then a year later I bought the Nor-vise and have not looked back. Have been at this something close to 14 years now. Long enough ago that my Nor-vise was a lot less than they are today, lol!

Oh and there are a lot of reason I like my Nor-vise so much, but will just leave that alone for now.

I’ve tied on both a dan and a renzetti. Had them both at the same time. Chose the renzetti cuz it was smoother and more comfortable for my big clumsy hands. Old renzetti with knobs and no lever and don’t see the need to upgrade til what I have is broke. The dan went to a friend that still has it, ten years later, and it does everything he needs. I know that if and when I decide to sel the renzetti that I will recover most or all of the money, not sure the dan would. All this being said, there was a guy here a few years back that had tied on a pair of vise grips in his bench vise for lots of years. To each his won, and keep us posted. Everyone learns from the others.
