Good to see this one as many guys tying are really tying without much real knowledge. I forced myself to learn a lot after I started tying by reading all I could find and especially at FAOL and learning the language as well. Anyway this is good because people tying should try to learn all they can about what is available and how it can be used.

Lately I have been thinking about taking some of the really nice capes and saddles I have and finding a good look on a Crappie jig. Have some ideas and soon will give at least one a shot to show. I want to make the body out of a Palmered Saddle Hackle over some nice reflective material, like a Lateral Scale wrapped around the shank with UV Glue to embed the stem into. I have tied some this way before and just want to try more of that and maybe a bit thicker?

I am not sure why other than letting my mind go farther than I have time to do, I have bought a lot of fly tying hackle, from dry fly type high end stuff to caps of hen hackle. Some of this is just gorgeous looking material. Here are a couple I have shown before and these are both whole Rooster skins of high quality. These two came from Conranch when Denny Conrad still owned it.
