    caught my first crappie on one of my own jigs today in my pond. it was really cool even though it was a paper thin 9 inch fish. thanks to you guys for the replies.

    Jigs look pretty good, but don't cut the natural ends off the marabou! Cut other end for length before you tie it in. Also I don't want the ends to look like they were cut off to make square straight cut. Kind of hard to tell in your pictures, but in my marabou jigs I don't use the stem much at all. Maybe 10% of the marabou will have a stem thin enough that I use it. I pull the barbules off the stem, stack enough for the tail, pinch where I want to cut the ends I pulled off and cut, tie in! You just get more and better action if there is no stem in your tail!
