Default 1/16 oz round head mold for#2 sickle hooks

Just ordered 3,000 matzou # 2 sickle hooks looks like the length of the shank for the eye is to long . I have run into this in the past but just a few hooks were like that. The longer length is preventing the jig to be poured correctly. Do they make a mold for these hooks

That length is just one reason I don't like the #2 Sickles and I even have some jigs with them in them, but only 1/8 and 1/4. So you need someone that pours and knows his stuff! I do not know squat about pouring so can't help with that part. Just a personal thing for me and just feel the hook is so much larger than needed for me anyway! Maybe the 1/4 Oz jig heads are better suited for that hook and at least the large head takes up some of the extra shank length.

If you have a dremel tool and some patience, most molds can be modified to accept hook variations like this. I've been successful.

Search the forum for posts from DrNip and others.

That's my next step. Everybody down here wants the #2 hook in a 1/16 oz head. I've poured over 3,000 of these 1/16 heads this summer and haven't had a problem until now. Just wondering if eagle claw has better quality with the lil nasty's

My personal experience so far is that the Lil Nasty hooks are more consistent. IMO the barbs are better also

What CrappieDreamer said. Dremel tool is also a quick fix, but I like the little nasty for hook setting leverage.

I have modified all my molds because of that. I have gone to little nasty and they fit much more like the standard 570 eagle claw. My newest pony head mold didn't require any work to get them to fit. Plus I like them a lot better than Matzuo.

They are notorious for that shank deal especially in the #2's. If I had your mold I could fix it in about 5 mins. I have had to do a lot of mine because of Matzuo and their inconsistency. I will agree the Little Nasty's are more constant in that account, plus their wire diameter is smaller and that makes for easier pouring too. If you don't want to alter your mold and need to move the hooks, give me a shout...Will try to help if I can...
