    Default Way too long?

Made this and it may be too long?
Thing is I like the black and chartreuse wagging back there but don't want to miss bites.

Brett herl is used in many flies and can be used for the body on smaller jigs, makes a nice looking body. The length of the jig may cause false strikes but the look of jigs are a self preference to the tyer. Never know how a fish may ack to a jig until you put it in places you know hold biting crappie like a brush pile. You will find out quickly if it work
It is a good looking jig, hard to top black/chartreuse.

I don't think you will have any trouble due to length really! If your fishing for Bluegills then you would have a huge problem, but Crappie have that big ol mouth and I have never really had any trouble with length of my tails and have used some that were pretty long. There is a guide on this lake that I know ties his on jigs and just about only uses Craft Fur which we all know is long and he uses the full length of that for his jigs! Even with a thread neck style that would be a long jig and he doesn't have any problems!

Just fish it and see what happens, lol!

You have given me an idea that will help me use some of the very high end dry fly Hackle that I have. I can use it kind of like the Oystrich used in this! I am liking this idea for me since I own so much if the kind I am talking about and lots of colors more natural that I think may just do something good, lol!

    Thanks,
