How thick are you cutting the cross-cuts out of the craft fur?? I like the color but to me not sure about the short hair on the second one. I say that because I did a beaver cross-cut tie and it was short and didn't catch anything almost floated too much. Like to see the samples of the craft hair you have coming too!!

thru trial and error I have found the craft hair has to be cut about 3/8 of an inch wide. The stretchy backing needs that much to keep from breaking when rolling it on. Plus side to it is it will stretch by pulling on t to about an 1/8 inch wide
Top Jig was made from this

it has about a 3/4 inc pile on it
Second jig was tied from this

    about a 1/2 inch pile
Keep in mind I'm mainly tying these for Float n Fly. We tend to get a lot of short hits and I'm focusing on keeping the fur flush or towards the head from the hook bend.

I am wondering if you could go back any farther passed where you stopped on that one? Maybe the hot orange could even be okay a tiny bit farther back, but know your getting past the bend if that were to be done. Sure would give the. A shot as is though. I don't do the F&F thing so don't know a lot about that.

I tie some craft fur stuff for the winter months and got some short hit's also. This year I'm keeping the fur shorter than I did last year but trying to also pay attention to proportion. Short and fat doesn't look right to me so I'm using a little less material.
