Default Anybody ever done a shrimp pattern?

Going after speckled trout and redfish the first week of September and want to make up a handful of jigs to try down there. Doing a charter trip but dont want to just fish with live bait.

Thinking about a 1/8 or 1/4 head but kinda unsure about how I want to build out from there.

Try a Pink head, pale pink body and tail with a little silver. A really good Redfish color is medium purple and light gold.

I've made small grass shrimp jigs before, but never some that size. I would say if you can go back and find some craw patterns you like.... leave off the claws and adjust the colors to a saltwater shrimp. Also betting that you will be able to get reds on buck tail jigs. Never fished for them myself, but have seen many fishing tourneys on the boob tube. :D Some of them use bass style lures...... bass like buck tail jigs!!!

    soswine,
Flatfish46 (AKA Robert Howell, AKA Crazy Angler) tied me some last year that were just great.
See if he can duplicate his feat again.

These might give you some ideas although probably a little more complicated than you need/want to go. The body is Larva Lace which could be wrapped instead of crocheted. For some bigger mass I used spaghetti beads with a slit cut into them to go over the hook shank. Although not the weight you want they can be tied on just about any size jig from tiny to huge.

I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.
