YJ - So theres no doubt in anyones mind I'm being serious!!!!!!!! You said you'd been through the box and put stuff back in on the 10th and would ship ASAP, your words not mine. And if the PO closes at 4pm, even waiting till the 12th it's now 8 days where you've had 45 minutes each day to get there. If you ship the box priority mail which is only a few dollars more than first class the box moves in 2-4 days, and could be to BK on Monday latest Wednesday. AT LEAST IT WOULD BE IN THE MAIL!!! And if anyone wants to shout at me fine BUT!!!! AC should have put that decision up to the group for a vote!!!!!!!!!!!!

And just to show how serious I am - I'll PM you BK's address so you'll definately have it!!! It should be in your PM box. And I'll even send it to your regular email!!

Wow! I stumbled onto this swap box thread and thought, hmmmm....this could be interesting. I can say there is no way I would ever participate in a swap box with such inconsiderate people. It's a box with fishing stuff in it for cry'n out loud. Sometimes things are going to be messed up. Jumping on a senior in high school? Talk about being anal retentive. Take some advice...take a breath and go fishing.

First of all I will finish this round!!! CrappieHound and AC the reason I'm so pissed off about this is this isn't the first time YJ hasn't done what he said he would. Another member sent him materials and his only request was send the guy some jigs back!!! EASY RIGHT!!!!!!!!! Well not for YJ - Over Six months for him to do it even though the guy kept asking him on the OPEN forum!!! and YJ would just ignore him!! Is that what you call consideration??? I don't think so!!
So AC as far as the swap box issue, there are no bigger issues to be concerned about!!!!!!! The box should have been sent!!

And Crappie Hound " there is no way I would ever participate in a swap box with such inconsiderate people", well guess what?? That's the whole problem here, lack of communication and no consideration for the members who haven't gotten the box yet!!! I'm tired of the excuses, I go to work before the PO opens and come home after it closes, I'm in school every day!! Well TOUGH!!! I drive 100+ miles round trip every day and the PO is closed when I leave and closed when I get home but I manage to get the box out to the next person quickly and that's all I'm asking for here!!!!!!!!!!! Common Consideration!!!!!!!!!

You all have a good night!! I have to be up at 5am to get ready for work.

I don't know the history. I'm just reading the thread for what it is and the tone of the posts seems to be contrary to the very meaning of a swap box, which I'm assuming is to encourage crappie fishing by swapping gear with other like minded fishermen.

    I have two questions.

    1) Where did all the stuff come from originally to get the box started?
    2) Is the general attitude more about, What can I get? or How can I help folks out and still receive something in return?

Fatman, I'm not saying that there aren't any issues or that the process shouldn't run more smoothly but if I'm reading this post correctly nobody but the first guy has anything in the box until he or she gets it and they have taken something out. Nobody is out anything, ever.

The problem is getting the box back out in a reasonable amount of time. I think the rule that needs to be applied to swap boxes is that if you know you won't be able to get the box out in a reasonable amount of time, don't participate. Saying that, stuff happens. I'm mean, its not like your waiting on the box so that you can find some stuff to take with you this weekend to go fishing.

Bottom line...if you get involved with a swap box you need to ensure that the box is moved along as quickly as possible and all participants need to behave as the normally would if they were talking to people face to face.

Everyone should, "TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO TREATED."

Fatman, have a safe and blessed day at work.

    Hound,
Yes I like all of your points, the guy that started the box dropped out the first time it went around, and so I've made sure we have other rounds. Yes the problem is the reasonable amount of time, to some they want it back out the door in 3 days but I say a week. And if things come up and it takes longer that is fine we can't predict life!!

    Thanks,
    AC

    Hound – Your 2 questions
    1) Where did all the stuff come from originally to get the box started?
The box first started in Aug of 2010 by njones and he was the one who put all the material that started the box – a medium priority box and there were 7 of us. After the sign-up period the box mailed on 1 Sep 2010. Another guy got added in so that made 8. There was one big snaf-fu when one of the guys was moving and the box got put in the moving truck instead of his regular vehicle, but he made up for it by really loading up the box and shipping it overnight. The first round finished up 18 Nov. If not for the snafu that box would have made it through 8 people in roughly 37 days.

    2) Is the general attitude more about, What can I get? or How can I help folks out and still receive something in return?
The premise of the box was for folks to maybe swap for materials they weren’t to sure about buying and if it was in the box this gave them a chance to do that. And for that round everyone was waiting for me because I promised to put a lot of horsehead jigs in the box and did, including the split rings and blades.

Quote “The problem is getting the box back out in a reasonable amount of time. I think the rule that needs to be applied to swap boxes is that if you know you won't be able to get the box out in a reasonable amount of time, don't participate.” I’m sorry but when someone says they will do something DO IT, not the excuse of I don’t have time to get to the PO, if you can’t get there don’t sign up!!!

Everyone has worked really hard to stick to a 3 day turnaround time through all the rounds – and for the cost priority mail was actually cheaper and faster. Only a couple dollars more and it really moved the box.

This round the box shipped on 21 Nov, there were 3 people left and one dropped out he got tired of waiting. So here it is 21 Dec and there are still 2 people to get it through and it’s not even in the mail yet. I’m sorry but 8 days to get a package in the mail is absolutely un-acceptable.

AC – I have to disagree with you again!! “the guy that started the box dropped out the first time it went around” No Njones did not drop out the second round he just turned over the swap meister duties to me and he DID participate, and put some really nice stuff in the box!!!!!!!!!

With everything else you always asked the group for a vote on what to do, but this time you tell YJ to just hold the box!!! Not right!! He needs to get the box in the mail!!! hopefully TODAY!!!!!!!! at least it will be in the mail.

Hound – face to face with someone I would say these same things. It’s called being honest.

You all have a good day

Young man and yes I can call you that as I'm old enough. You need to show some respect and integrity towards the other members of this swap and actually the whole board!!! and get the box to the post office, hopefully today by priority mail.
