    Default Wanting to catch crappie

This year I really would like to up my crappie fishing game. I will be fishing from the bank this year. Can anyone tell me if lake darlin, Crawford's pond, lake belva deer are any good for fishing from the shore? I could drive to seguma, Odessa if they are alot more beginner friendly from the bank.

Be patient in waiting for a response. My wife and I fish from bank also but don't do well until we fish from the docks in late fall thru early winter.
Have fun and turn to the forum often. The more specific your question the better answers you'll get.
Good luck and above all else have fun!

Thanks for the advice. I'm just wondering if the places I listed are good places for bank fishing. I know not all places are created equal. I would mainly be fishing from spring to fall if that even matters.

Crappie need cover whether deep or shallow which is why I mentioned the docks for fall and winter.

Docks around here are in fairly shallow water and get pulled out for once the weather starts getting down to freezing temps. Where are you from?

I have fished all of those lakes but from a boat. Odessa at the upper inlet area and the lower outlet area would be best from shore and limited, shallow and busy sometimes. Darling or Seguma would be good and at Seguma check out the ponds. They are state owned and I know a lot of fish come from there.

Awesome! That's the type of response I'm looking for. I know you said you fish from a boat but what area at lake darlin should I concentrate my efforts from the bank? Thanks a bunch!!

I was camped at Darling and no boat. We fished along the camp ground and caught lots of fish. They refurbished the lake since the last time I was there so they added lots of stuff to aid fishing and fish population. I would check with the Iowa DNR web site and call the lakes fisheries biologist. His number is on the site. Hey, don't forget Lake McBride. It has a lot of areas to fish from the bank but does not produce a lot of quality fish normally. Hope this helps and I will check back here once in a while.
