    Default Lake Lemon Today

This is for Sir Catchalot as he wanted a report on Lake Lemon. Price to l1unch this year went up as now 22 bucks per day. Lake was heavy stained but good looking and water temp at 8 am was 59.5 all over, I was trolling PICO crankbaits anywhere from 1.5mph to 1.8 in 8 to 12’ of water as fish were just screwed up and finikie to hit. Wind was 5 to 8 till noon and picked. Up to make the lake whitecap with 1-2’ rollers and at 1 pm couldn’t take any more beating as I slipped my disk in my back 3 weeks ago and it is still tender as my lower back has had a agrivating disk from Vietnam days and every 3 or 4 years it blows out and can taker me off my feet for as long as 4 to 6 weeks sometimes. This time was mild so yep,,,I’m alittle sore for the bounce. It’s a reason I haven’t fished also till now. Today I did catch about 30 and kept 12 all 10 to 13.5 inch females loaded with eggs hot no way ready to spawn and also a 9 in. yellow Perch and released quit a few 9 plus inch fish. There was only maybe 15-18 other boats of fishermen and the ones that chatted with me weren’t doing any good with minnow, jigs. Etc, and we’re constantly moving around. Wind was primarily out of the east also and super sunny without a cloud in the sky. By 1 pm the lake surface temp had dropped with the whitecapping to 58.2 even tho it was sunny and in the mid 70’s. I graphed lots of fish so it will be a better day sometime of fishing.

Good report and sounds like a decent trip even though rough conditions. Sorry for your back, hope you’re feeling better soon.

Thank you as always you give such a detailed report that even a average fisherman like me may be able to catch a few fish. I hope your back gets to feeling better soon so you can whack some more of those Lemon crappie.

I think this weather this spring is throwing curve balls at nature. It’s dragged the mushroom season out. Kinda messed with the turkey season alittle as we have had a lot of ups and downs with heat and cold patterns as well as periods of rains then dry spells, Now,we are back to a wet pattern coming in the next few days again. I have heard of quite a few good catches of crappie out of Lemon this spring. I was surprised at the lack of traffic today in the lake. That’s a good thing. As for the back,,couple of days and it will be just like new again for a few more years till it decides to act up. I don’t let it get me down.
