Was a slow bite this morning, (kept 12 and had to work for them) then they just shut off all together. One by one people were leaving. Thought for sure the warm temps would get them moving. Going try again this evening and hope it improved .

Went back to same spot i fished wed night. First 3 casts produced a small crappie, a 12 inch crappie and a 13.5 crappie. I thought i was on em. Bite then slowed way down i was going several minutes at a time with no action. I slowly picked away at em and ended up with 10 good enough to bring home. Did not catch any white bass this time. Still havent found them hot n heavy anywhere. Not sure if fish are just more scattered or im simply going to the wrong spots this year lol. Going to try to get out tomorrow once more before the rain comes.

This morning wasn't much better than Friday evening, picked up a few fish then long periods without a bite. Hardly anyone out Friday evening or this morning, guys leaving after an hour to go find fish. From the chatter on the bank it's been a tough go of it from everyone, no one has really got into white bass or crappie really good yet. A lot of 7" - 9" crappie this year, only managed a few over 12" this year. My theory is the lake level is higher than normal and they are scattered or staying in the main lake, though some guys told me they didn't do well there either. Weathers going to be a rollercoaster this week, rain then possible snow, highs in 40's and 50's then 70's then back to 50's by weekend. Hope to get back out by mid week. Carry on.

Fished yesterday afternoon on opposite side of the river. Watched a guy get his limit and leave. I took his spot and caught quite a few but not much size. The white bass were thick though. Tried a couple other spots on walk back to my truck and caught fish at each stop right up on the bank but again no size. Kyron i think you are right on. Lake level was too high. My favorite spot is just east of 13 and i fished it when lake level was 724 as thats perfect for the spot but unfortunately water temp was still too cold then. That was like 2 weeks ago or more. Its up 5 foot from then and not worth fishin. I had a buddy do decent in lake yesterday from boat. In the river this year it seems like i can only find fish on structure like logs or stumps. Its not like years past where theres such huge schools you could throw it anywhere and get bit.

I appreciate these updates. I have been thinking missy was on a decline now for a few years and these updates along with my own experiences and other updates I won’t be buying a sticker this year for the boat. I’ll fish local lakes that don’t require the sticker or the hour drive. Thanks gentlemen, hopefully missy stops being over fished but unlikely

My dad and I did really good yesterday morning long lining. Hardly anyone was out for a Saturday. It was strange. A lot of the fish we caught were suspended close to shore but in 30-50 feet of water. Name: IMG_20230415_150603933.jpg

Smaller size fish has been the norm this year for sure, I through back probably six fish for every one I kept. I remember reading that crappie have a 5 year cycle where you get 5 years of good fishing and larger fish and then 5 years of poor fishing and smaller fish. Not sure if there's any truth to that, but something is going on.

I was fishing near a log in the water anything more than 5 feet away was all but barren of fish, definitely structure oriented fish .

Doesn't look like the rain messed up the river to much, be curious how the bite will be after this cold front. Plan to try again mid to late week, depending on weather.

    * Just looked at weather for the week, calling for low temps and high wind early week and then heavy rain mid week with some warmer temps, then back down to 50's/30's next week. Not ideal conditions for sure. Bite wasn't that great when it was 70* calm, and sunny. carry on. *

Anyone been upriver this week? I havent been out at all. Son has had high school baseball games every night. Looking at getting out tomorrow afternoon. Looks a little windy to try anyplace on the resi so probably will go to the river somewhere.
