Default Good Mess of Early Blacks

Hunted about 1.5 hrs. Still way to early for deep woods. May apples and red buds starting to bloom on the edges. Should be no more than a week or 2 for prime time depending on the weather in my area of south west Indiana.

I slice them down the middle, soak in salt water over nite, then rinse each one off. Best way is flour and fry in skillet in butter till light golden brown on both side and stuff yourselves eating them till gone. After frying,,,next morning if any left over, chop into pieces and mix with scrabbled eggs. Only once a year do they come up..so you have to chase them as they appear. I have found mushrooms from Tenn. alllway to 1500 miles north into Canada even while on fly in fishing trips. Morels are the prize delacacie and around here were even going as high as 80 bucks a pound last year on the yellow morels which will pop up in a couple of weeks.

Making my mouth water. Now I can't decide which way to go. To the woods this weekend or to the lake. Some shrooms dipped in flour & fried to a crisp does sound delicious.
