Need some Heat! Early Shrooms!

Ground temp needs to be at least 50 degrees or warmer. Need some sun. I checked one of my early spots today and found these small mushrooms. Don’t waste your time in the woods yet. I am also getting reports or two of early greys popping up. Check the more open areas for now. Way early yet and we need some heat especially at nite.

I hunt mostly woods so I’ll wait a while before I go on an official mushroom hunt. I’ve been doing a lot of shed hunting lately and have been seeing some scarlet cups which shows it’s warming up but still a ways to go. Ready for it though!

We got 4.3” last week. Coon is now about normal pool, Cat is up around 17’ above summer pool, Monroe is up 6.6 above summer pool, Patoka is 1.2’ up which is nice. But more rain for next couple days and next week more again. Lakes can’t release any water as rivers down here are flooded with some local roads and low land highways flooded. Looks like we will be fishing a lot of mud, floating trash, and highwater in between rains. Let’s see some postings on fish caught!!!!

Live on Monroe lake water muddy and above summer pool about 7 ft and up with no sights of discharge, gonna get worse before it’s better with upcoming rains

Monroe, Cat, and Coon, can’t discharge due to high rivers. We are flooded on East Fork of White River. Flood stage at Williams is 8’. River is predicted at 13.5’ as well as 26.3’ at Bedford. This rain will prolong the rivers dropping enough to discharge. More rain forcast for next week also. Cat and Coon feeds West Fork of White and it’s flooded as well. Definitely, however, I find larger crappie trolling cranks in 10’ or deeper waters. And easier location of schools especially in early spring. Cold waters means slow speeds for cranking. Boat is ready, and so is gear. Been working on everything the past 3 days and ready to rock. Need a break in wind and rain now.
