Default Planning on a trip to cataract

I’m planning on going to cataract next Friday (March 24th) on a solo fishing/camping trip. I’m really wanting to try out my new trolling motor (Minn Konya Terrova) and I’m a little new to fishing that lake. Any advice?…

I haven't been to Cataract for probably 15 years, but used to fish it every weekend almost. There are some nice stump areas that usually hold fish. They are all over the lake. You will have to look for them on your locator. It will depend on the water level, too. If it is near normal pool, I would suggest you start looking in the creek channel near the left hand side of the finger that goes back to the dam. Another way I have found crappie in the new areas I fish is to slow troll/pull jigs behind the boat a couple or 3 boat lengths away from the bank. Keep an eye out for points or dropoffs close to shore that will indicate structure. I know this is not very specific, but hopefully some others will chime in. I imagine water is still pretty cold and if rain happens the lake can get pretty muddy. Good luck. I love my Terrova.

Good luck on your trip!! Keep an eye on water level. It's at summer pool now. With all the rain were expecting the next few days I'm sure it will be coming up. Give us a report back.

Honestly, I’ve never given a fishing report! Camping/fishing trip ended up a little differently than I planned. Camping in the rain is not exactly what I consider to be a good time, so it got canceled!… I did take the boat out yesterday (Sunday) and, as previously said, water was cold and really muddy, as I expected. I did catch a few. It was tough. They all still seemed to be suspended over deep water off points. I didn’t take my trolling stuff or I might have done better. Water was about 44° to 45.5° all over the lake. The main reason I went was to try out the Terrova and that thing is amazing! Not sure how I survived this long without spot lock! Thanks for the input form everyone else!
